1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing our website, participating in our programs, or using any services provided by Beacon of Hope Community Based Organization ("the Organization"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must not use our services or participate in our programs.
2. About Our Organization
Beacon of Hope is a registered Community Based Organization (CBO) in Isiolo County, Kenya, with registration number DSD/11/49/02/13417. Our mission is to empower youths through opportunities, education, and skill development for self-reliance and community advancement.
Our primary objectives include:
- Equipping youths with life and vocational skills
- Rescuing youths from drug addiction and substance abuse
- Promoting sporting activities to foster peaceful co-existence
- Empowering youths with knowledge on climate change and environmental conservation
- Combating moral degradation and reducing HIV/AIDS prevalence
3. Membership
Eligibility
Membership is open to any person or institution engaged in or interested in youth empowerment work, who subscribes to the objectives of the Organization.
Admission Process
Application for membership shall be made in writing to the Secretary. The Management Committee has sole discretion to admit new members by a simple majority vote.
Cessation of Membership
A person shall cease to be a member if:
- They resign in writing
- They are expelled by a two-thirds majority vote of the Management Committee for conduct deemed prejudicial to the Organization
- They fail to attend three consecutive Annual General Meetings without a valid reason
4. Program Participation
Participation in our programs (including vocational training, sports activities, and advocacy programs) is subject to the following conditions:
- Participants must comply with all program rules and guidelines
- The Organization reserves the right to deny or terminate participation for behavior that violates our values or disrupts program activities
- Participants acknowledge that some activities may involve inherent risks and agree to participate at their own risk
- Participants grant the Organization permission to use photographs, videos, and testimonials for promotional purposes
5. Donations and Financial Contributions
When making donations to Beacon of Hope:
- All donations are final and non-refundable
- Donations will be used to support our youth empowerment programs as described
- We maintain transparent financial records as required by our constitution
- Financial reports are available to members at Annual General Meetings
Note: Beacon of Hope is a registered Community Based Organization but does not currently have tax-exempt status. Donations may not be tax-deductible.
6. Intellectual Property
All content on our website and in our programs, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, images, and program materials, is the property of Beacon of Hope or our content suppliers and protected by copyright laws.
You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our express written permission.
7. Code of Conduct
All members, participants, and volunteers are expected to:
- Treat others with respect and dignity
- Uphold the core values of Integrity, Accountability, Inclusivity, Innovation, and Compassion
- Refrain from any form of discrimination, harassment, or abusive behavior
- Use organizational resources responsibly and for intended purposes only
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Beacon of Hope shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from:
- Your access to or use of or inability to access or use our services
- Any conduct or content of any third party related to our services
- Unauthorized access, use, or alteration of your transmissions or content
9. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Kenya. Any disputes relating to these terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kenya.
10. Amendments
We reserve the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. We will provide notice of significant changes by posting the updated terms on our website with a new "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of our services after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms and Conditions.
